Rabbi Emerita Ellen J. Lewis

Rabbi Ellen Jay Lewis served the Jewish Center of Northwest Jersey as its spriritual leader for 19 years before retiring in 2013. She was ordained in 1980 and came to the JCNWJ in 1994. While technically serving in a part-time capacity, she became well known to the congregation as a “full-service” rabbi. She also served as principal of the Hebrew School and conducted the “Rabbi’s Class” on Sundays as part of the temple’s Adult Education program.

Nearly 200 “Rabbi’s Message” columns authored by Rabbi Lewis appeared on this website and in every issue of the temple’s newsletters.
